About Used Infiniti G35 Parts

Used Infiniti G35 parts turn on a question the model year cannot answer: sedan or coupe. The sedan changed generation for 2007 and changed engines with it, while the coupe carried the old body and old engine right through 2007 before becoming the G37 for 2008. Order a "2007 G35" part by year alone and there is a coin-flip built into it.

Generations & fitment boundaries

The generation and platform decide whether a used part interchanges. Match yours before you request a quote.

  • 2003-2006 (V35 sedan) — FM-platform sedan built January 2002 to August 2006. VQ35DE, 5-speed JATCO RE5R05A automatic or 6-speed manual; the AWD version is the G35x with ATTESA E-TS.
  • 2003-2007 (V35 coupe) — Coupe production ran June 2002 to May 2007 - the coupe stayed on the V35 body and the VQ35DE a full model year after the sedan moved on.
  • 2007-2008 (V36 sedan) — Second-generation FM structure shared in part with the Infiniti M, single-pivot front lower control arms replacing the twin lower links, and the VQ35HR. The last G35 sedan - for 2009 the sedan becomes the G37.
  • 2008-2015 (V36 coupe (G37)) — The V36 coupe never wore a G35 badge - it arrived for 2008 as the 3.7L G37, renamed Q60 for 2013-2015. The boundary marker for where G35 parts stop.
Engines & transmissions — how to tell them apart

Every G35 is a 3.5L VQ V6, but not the same one. Through 2006 - and through 2007 in the coupe - it is the VQ35DE, rated 260 hp in the 2003-2004 sedan and 280 hp in the 2003-2004 coupe. Manual cars built 2005-2006 plus the 2007 manual coupe got the "Rev-Up" VQ35DE, which keeps the name but adds electromagnetically phased valve timing on the exhaust cams as well as the intake, so two engines can both read VQ35DE and not share cam or phaser hardware.

The 2007 sedan's VQ35HR is a different install, not just a different tune: a dual-path intake with two air cleaners and two throttle bodies, equal-length exhaust manifolds, and a raised block deck. Nissan added a hood bulge to the 2007 350Z purely to clear the taller HR - which is why DE and HR are not a swap you make with the same accessories and plumbing.

Transmissions split three ways. The 5-speed RE5R05A automatic covers the V35 cars and carries into the 2007-2008 V36 G35 sedan; a 6-speed manual was optional on the coupe from the start and on the sedan from 2003; the 7-speed RE7R01A only appears from 2009, by which point the car is a G37. And the automatic in the AWD G35x is an Aisin-Warner unit rather than the JATCO the rear-drive car uses, so those two are not interchangeable.

Known issues that drive used-part demand
  • Brakes changed inside the V35 run. Infiniti dropped the Brembo option for 2005-2006 and redesigned the brakes with larger discs and a different caliper design, after complaints about premature wear on 2003-2004 cars led to a California class action. So 2003-2004 and 2005-2006 brake hardware is not one pool. Brake work is safety-critical - diagnosis and fitting belong with a qualified mechanic.
  • Some sensors are a bad used buy here. NHTSA campaign 03V455000 covers crank and cam position sensors whose circuit-board solder joints could fail, causing a no-start, reduced power or a stall without warning - and the replacements fitted under the earlier 01V357 campaign were affected too. Buy those two new rather than pulling them off an early donor.
  • NHTSA campaign 10V175000 covers 2005-2007 G35 sedans and coupes: the harness between the belt tension sensor and the occupant detection sensor control unit under the front passenger seat can wear and interrupt the signal, so the airbag may not deploy. Never source used occupant-classification or restraint parts from an unverified donor - check recall status by VIN and leave the work to a qualified technician.

Safety- and emissions-related parts should be diagnosed and installed by a licensed mechanic.

Most-requested used G35 parts

Body style, year and engine code close most G35 fitment questions in one message: VQ35DE or VQ35HR, sedan or coupe, rear-drive or G35x, automatic or manual. Shared-platform hardware sometimes has a Nissan-badged twin, but that means engine and driveline family, not suspension or body. Send the 17-digit VIN and we confirm the donor before anything is quoted, with written terms and warranty before you commit.

Used Infiniti G35 Parts — FAQ

Will a 2006 G35 engine fit a 2007 G35?

For the sedan, no. The 2007 sedan is a new generation with the VQ35HR - dual-path intake, taller block deck, engine mounted 15 mm lower - while 2006 is the VQ35DE. The coupe is the exception: the 2007 coupe is still the old V35 with the VQ35DE, because coupe production of that body ran to May 2007.

Is a 2007 G35 sedan the same car as a 2007 G35 coupe?

No, and this is the most expensive G35 mistake. The sedan moved to the V36 body for 2007 with the VQ35HR; the 2007 coupe is still the V35 body with the VQ35DE. Same badge, same year, different generation and different engine, so tell us the body style with every request.

Will Nissan 350Z parts fit my G35?

Engine and driveline family, often. Both are FM-platform cars built at the same Tochigi plant, both ran the VQ35DE and then the VQ35HR for 2007, and both offered the RE5R05A automatic. Chassis and body, no - the 350Z wheelbase is 2,649 mm against 2,850 mm, so suspension, driveshafts and panels do not cross.

Will a 2004 G35 sedan front bumper or hood fit a 2005?

No. Infiniti restyled the sedan for 2005 with a new hood and trunk lid, new front and rear bumpers, body-colored side sills, a revised headlight lens with integrated fog lights and turn signals, new dual-circle LED tail lamps and new 17-inch wheels. Same V35 generation underneath, but front and rear body and lighting parts do not cross the 2004-to-2005 line.

Does my 2005 G35 sedan have a limited-slip differential?

Only if it is the 6MT or carries the Sport-Tuned Suspension Package. Infiniti made the viscous limited-slip differential standard on the 2005 G35 6MT, which also got 18-inch wheels and sport suspension, and offered it on other models only inside that package. Two cars of the same model year can have different rear ends, so confirm what is under yours before ordering a differential.

Which G35 years came with all-wheel drive, and what shares that system?

All-wheel drive starts with the 2004 model year. Infiniti's 2004 G Sedan press material says the car returned for 2004 with a new all-wheel-drive model, available early that December, so no 2003 G35 is all-wheel drive. It runs ATTESA E-TS, the same system fitted to the FX45 and FX35 AWD, and EPA still lists a G35x for 2007. Say rear-drive or G35x with your quote request.

Are used headlights off a 2006 or 2007 G35 a safe buy?

Look up the donor's recall status before you commit. NHTSA campaign 06V394000 covers 2006 and 2007 Infiniti G35s whose headlamps fail the vertical gradient and photometric requirements of FMVSS 108, and the remedy was for dealers to replace the headlamp assemblies. A lamp pulled from a car that never had that work done is the part the campaign was written about.
