About Used Infiniti Parts
Used Infiniti parts are easier to track down than the badge suggests, because Infiniti is Nissan's luxury division and most of the hardware underneath is shared Nissan engineering. The G35 and G37 are rebadged Nissan Skylines on the FM rear-drive platform that also underpins the 370Z. The trap is that Infiniti renamed its whole lineup for 2014 and changed engines mid-nameplate, so ordering by model name and year is how people get the wrong part.
- Popular models: Q50, G35/G37, QX60, QX80, FX/QX70
- Shares Nissan's FM platform and VQ V6 engine family
- VQ35DE, VQ35HR and VQ37VHR are different engines
Common platforms & generations in salvage
The third- and fourth-generation G (chassis codes V35 and V36) are rebadged Nissan Skylines on the Nissan FM platform, the same architecture as the 370Z, sharing components with the Infiniti M, EX and FX. So an Infiniti part often has a Nissan-badged twin, and the donor set is far wider than Infiniti-badged cars alone.
The V6 changed twice. G35s used the VQ35DE (Coupe 2002-2007, Sedan 2002-2006), the G35 Sedan switched to the VQ35HR for 2007-2008, and the G37, FX37, EX37, M37 and 2015 Q40 all use the 3.7L VQ37VHR - the same engine as the 2009-2020 Nissan 370Z. The full-size SUV is a different family: the QX56 was Armada-based with the 5.6L VK56DE (2004-2010), then moved to the Nissan Y62 Patrol body with the direct-injection VK56VD (2011-2024 QX56/QX80, shared with the 2017-2023 Armada and 2017-2024 Titan).
Known Infiniti failure patterns to check
- The CVT in the 2015-2018 QX60 was covered by a class-action settlement alongside the 2014-2018 Nissan Rogue and 2015-2018 Pathfinder, and the QX60 powertrain warranty was extended from 72 months/70,000 miles to 96 months/96,000 miles. Check that coverage before buying a used transmission - you may not need one.
- Several Infinitis fall under Takata passenger airbag inflator recalls, including 2003-2008 FX35 and FX45, 2003-2004 I35 and 2006-2010 M35 and M45. Never fit a used airbag or inflator from a recall-affected donor; airbag work is safety-critical and belongs with a qualified technician using a part verified as remedied.
Safety- and emissions-related parts should be diagnosed and installed by a licensed mechanic.
Fitment traps that break interchange
- Infiniti renamed everything for 2014: the M became the Q70, the G sedan was replaced by the Q50, the QX56 became the QX80, the EX became the QX50, the JX35 became the QX60. A catalogue that knows only one name misses the identical car under the other.
- A 2006 and a 2007 G35 Sedan are not the same engine. The VQ35HR that replaced the VQ35DE for 2007 has longer connecting rods, a deck raised 8.4 mm and higher 10.6:1 compression, so "3.5 V6" spans two non-interchangeable engines. The flip side: the 2007-2008 Nissan 350Z also uses the VQ35HR.
- The 2010 and 2011 QX56 share a name and little else - through 2010 it was the American Armada body with the VK56DE, from 2011 the Y62 Patrol body with the VK56VD. Body, engine and drivetrain all move at that break.
Where to find the engine code & VIN
Fitment on an Infiniti is settled by chassis code plus engine code, not the trim badge. Read the chassis code (V35 or V36 for the G, JA60 for the 2004-2010 QX56, Z62 for the 2011+ QX56/QX80) and the engine code (VQ35DE, VQ35HR, VQ37VHR, VK56DE, VK56VD), then send the full 17-digit VIN with your quote request so we match the donor to your build, not to the model year. If you know the Nissan equivalent shares your engine code and generation, say so - it widens what we can quote.

Why Buy Used Infiniti Parts?
A used part can be a lower-cost alternative to new OEM, especially for an out-of-warranty Infiniti. The value depends on correct fitment, condition, warranty and return terms, shipping, and the final price.
- Vehicle details — share the VIN or exact Infiniti configuration for fitment review.
- Terms before purchase — review warranty and return terms in writing.
- Condition information — ask for available photos, mileage, and inspection details.
- Shipping options — confirm options for the part size and destination.

Used Infiniti Parts — FAQ
Will Nissan parts fit my Infiniti?
Often, within the same generation and engine code. The G35 and G37 are rebadged Nissan Skylines on the FM platform shared with the 370Z, the G37 and 370Z both use the VQ37VHR, and the QX80 shares the VK56VD with the Patrol, Armada and Titan. Match chassis and engine code, not the badge, and confirm by VIN.
Are all Infiniti 3.5 V6 engines the same?
No. The G35 Sedan used the VQ35DE through 2006 and the VQ35HR from 2007 - longer rods, a deck raised 8.4 mm, higher compression. Order by engine code, not "3.5 V6" or model year.
My QX60 has a failing CVT - should I buy a used one?
Check the warranty first. The 2015-2018 QX60 CVT settlement extended the powertrain warranty to 96 months or 96,000 miles. If yours is outside it, we can quote a tested used unit matched to your VIN, with terms in writing before you commit.
