About This Center Console

A used center console is one of the most option-dependent parts in the interior, so "it fits my car" is rarely the right test. The console is the control-bearing structure that starts under the dashboard and runs back along the transmission tunnel, and on most vehicles the gear selector sits where those sections meet - though on some, vans especially, it is mounted high on the vertical front face. That shape is set by your drivetrain and shifter, not by the model name. What is built into it varies by how the car was ordered: cupholder layout, an armrest with storage under it, rear-facing heater vents and auxiliary power outlets, and on equipped cars a Qi wireless charging pad in the tray at the front. One thing to know before anyone pries trim: the airbag control module is often mounted under the center console, so disturbing that area is shop work.

How Pricing Is Determined

Pricing for used center console depends on several factors:

Console quotes move on content and on how narrow the match is. A plain bin with two cupholders and a console with a charging pad, rear vents, powered outlets and a switch panel are not the same shipment, and the second carries electronics that have to be tested and matched. Interior trim codes vary by manufacturer and usually do not match the brochure colour name, so a console in the right code is a smaller pool than one that simply bolts in. Say what actually failed, too: if only the lid, latch or shifter surround broke, that is a different search from a complete console. Send the VIN, trim code and feature list and we quote in writing. We do not publish prices.

Confirm the final price and fitment basis before approving a purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will a console from a different trim level fit my car?

Often not, and the shifter is the usual reason. The console is shaped around where the gear selector lives - at the join of console and tunnel on most cars, high on the front face on some vans - so a console built for a different selector layout will not sit right even when the interior looks identical. Feature content differs too: storage layout, rear vents, outlets and switch panels vary by trim. Match on VIN and options.

Do the switches and the wireless charging pad come with it?

Only if the donor car had them and they are listed in what we quote. A wireless charging pad is an if-equipped item that sits in the tray at the front of the console, so a base console has no pad and no wiring for one. Same for extra USB ports, powered outlets and switch panels. Tell us what your car has and we will confirm in writing what the quoted console includes.

Will a used console match my interior colour?

It arrives in the donor car colour and finish, so match on the code, not the word. Interior colour codes differ by maker and are usually not the name the interior is advertised under. The code is on the build label, most often on the driver door or jamb - send it with the VIN. Grain and gloss matter too, since a console sits right beside the door trim.

My armrest latch broke. Do I need a whole console?

Not necessarily. When the latch fails the armrest stops staying closed and rattles open on the move. On some vehicles the latch or lid is available alone; on others the lid assembly is the smallest piece sold. Tell us which part broke and we search the smallest sensible unit first rather than defaulting to a full console.

The 12 volt socket in my console died - do I need a used console?

Usually not. Ford's manual warns that drawing more than the vehicle's 12 volt, 180 watt capacity may blow a fuse, and that pushing anything other than an accessory plug into the socket damages the outlet and may blow the fuse as well. Outlets sit on the front of the console, inside it and on the rear, each on a circuit. Have the fuse and that circuit checked before you shop for a console.

Will a console from a 4x4 fit my two-wheel-drive truck?

Often not, because of what comes up through the floor. On manual shift-on-stop four-wheel drive, Ford engages the transfer case with a floor-mounted shifter, so that console needs an opening and a boot a two-wheel-drive part never had. Electronic shift-on-the-fly trucks use a dash control instead. Send the VIN and say which system your truck has with your quote request.

My car has an electric parking brake button - does that change which console fits?

Yes. Ford puts the electric parking brake operating switch in the centre console, so a console built around that switch carries its aperture and wiring, while a car with a hand lever between the seats has a console shaped around the lever and its boot. Two cars of the same model and year can therefore need different consoles, so check yours rather than matching on the model name.

How is compatibility verified?

Provide your VIN or full vehicle details so you can review the fitment basis in your quote before approving a purchase.

What if the part does not fit?

Most suppliers offer limited return or exchange options. Warranty and return terms are confirmed before purchase.

How long does shipping take?

Shipping time varies by location, part size, and freight arrangement. Confirm the dispatch and delivery estimate in your quote.
