About Used Dodge Grand Caravan Parts
The Dodge Grand Caravan is a front-drive minivan, and the single fact that decides most fitment is the year: from 2011 it runs the 3.6L Pentastar V6, while 2010-and-earlier vans used the older 3.3/3.8/4.0 V6 family. Match parts to that engine split and to the near-identical Chrysler Town & Country twin — not just to the 'Grand Caravan' badge — and confirm the engine by VIN before you buy.
Generations & fitment boundaries
The generation and platform decide whether a used part interchanges. Match yours before you request a quote.
- 2008–2010 (Fifth gen (RT), pre-Pentastar) — The RT-platform van with the older 3.3L, 3.8L and 4.0L V6 engines. Same body family as the 2011+ van, but a different engine and transmission story — confirm before ordering powertrain parts.
- 2011–2020 (Fifth gen (RT), Pentastar era) — The volume used-parts van: the 3.6L Pentastar V6 replaced the older engines for 2011. This is the long-running body most requests are for, built through 2020.
Engines & transmissions — how to tell them apart
Order by engine, not by model year alone. For 2011 onward the Grand Caravan uses the 3.6L Pentastar V6; 2010 and earlier vans used the older 3.3L, 3.8L or 4.0L V6. These are different engine families with different mounts, accessories and transmission mating, so a Pentastar is not a drop-in for an older van and vice versa. Read the 8th VIN digit — the FCA engine code — to confirm which you have before buying an engine.
The Pentastar vans use a 6-speed automatic; a used transmission has to match the engine and the exact variant your van left the factory with. Because the van is front-wheel drive there's no transfer case to match, but the transaxle, axles and mounts still have to match the engine — send your VIN so engine and transmission line up.
The Grand Caravan is the near-twin of the Chrysler Town & Country (and, for the earlier years, the shorter Dodge Caravan), so a large share of engine, transmission, chassis and interior parts overlap across those minivans. The overlap widens the salvage pool, but body trim and badging differ, so confirm the exact part by VIN rather than assuming everything crosses.
Known issues that drive used-part demand
- 2011–2013 3.6L Pentastar left (driver-side) cylinder heads can wear their valve guides and seats, giving a tick and misfire codes (P0302/P0304/P0306). Chrysler moved to hardened heads in summer 2012 and covered the original left head under campaign X56 — 10 years / 150,000 miles. On a used Pentastar van favor a post-2013 3.6 or an updated head, and have a mechanic confirm the misfiring bank first.
- The Stow-n-Go second- and third-row seating and its underfloor bins are a common source of used-part requests — worn latches, folding mechanisms and bin lids. Match the seat and mechanism to your exact row and trim, and photograph the latch and rail before ordering so the replacement matches.
- On the older 3.3/3.8/4.0 vans, verify engine and transmission history before buying used — these are high-mileage fleet and family vans, so documented history matters more than the badge. Have a mechanic check the specific unit rather than trusting reputation.
Safety- and emissions-related parts should be diagnosed and installed by a licensed mechanic.
Most-requested used Grand Caravan parts
The Grand Caravan parts we're asked to quote most are the 3.6L Pentastar V6 (2011+) and the older 3.3/3.8/4.0 V6s, the 6-speed automatic matched to the engine, and Stow-n-Go seats and interior parts. Because so much crosses with the Chrysler Town & Country and because the 2011 engine change is the key fitment split, have your VIN ready so we confirm the year, engine code and exact part before quoting.

Used Dodge Grand Caravan Parts — FAQ
Does my Grand Caravan have the 3.6 Pentastar or the older V6?
It's a year split: 2011 and newer vans use the 3.6L Pentastar V6, while 2010 and earlier used the older 3.3L, 3.8L or 4.0L V6. Read the 8th digit of the VIN — the FCA engine code — to confirm before buying an engine, because the two families don't interchange.
Do Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country parts interchange?
Largely yes — they're the same RT-platform minivan, so most engine, transmission, chassis and interior parts overlap. The overlap isn't total and trim/badging differs, so confirm the exact part by VIN before ordering.
Is the 2011–2013 Pentastar cylinder-head problem something to worry about on a used van?
It's worth knowing about: 2011–2013 Pentastar left cylinder heads can wear their valve guides and seats, causing a tick and misfire codes. Chrysler covered the original left head under campaign X56 (10 years/150,000 miles); favor a post-2013 3.6 or an updated head and have a mechanic confirm the misfiring bank first.
Did the 3.3L Grand Caravan come with a four-speed or a six-speed automatic?
The 3.3L used the four-speed. Dodge's 2008 Grand Caravan specifications list the 41TE four-speed automatic as standard with the 3.3L V6, and the 62TE six-speed with the 3.8L and 4.0L V6 — so on the pre-Pentastar vans the gearbox follows the engine, not the trim. The two transaxles have different gear sets and final drives, so send the VIN with your quote request and we will match engine and transaxle together.
Will a 2010 Grand Caravan hood or headlight fit a 2011 van?
No. Dodge restyled the van inside and out for 2011: its release describes a new front fascia with the split-crosshair grille, a new hood and quad headlamps, a more sculpted rear fascia and liftgate, ring-of-fire LED tail lamps, a new one-piece instrument panel and larger Stow 'n Go seats with one-touch fold-down. Treat 2008-2010 and 2011-up as separate pools for sheet metal, lighting and interior trim.
Do Ram C/V cargo van parts fit a Dodge Grand Caravan?
Many mechanical parts do. Ram's launch release says the Cargo Van replaced the Dodge Grand Caravan C/V and uses the same 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with a six-speed automatic transaxle; trade coverage calls it based on the Grand Caravan minivan. The body is where it diverges: solid sliding-door and quarter-window panels instead of glass, and a flat load floor instead of rear seating, so glass, trim and seat parts do not cross.
Can I fit Stow 'n Go seats to a Grand Caravan built with Swivel 'n Go?
Not as a seat-only swap. Chrysler offered three second-row setups on the 2008 vans: a bench with covered floor bins, Stow 'n Go with second- and third-row seats that fold into the floor, and Swivel 'n Go with seats that turn 180 degrees to face the third row plus a removable table. Stow 'n Go uses the underfloor wells for the seats themselves; the other two use that space as storage, so seats, rails and floor hardware are configuration-specific.
