About This Intake Manifold
A used intake manifold is really a quote for everything bolted to it. It distributes air to each intake port, but also mounts the throttle body, the fuel injectors and other components, so two manifolds for one engine can differ by what is attached and which revision they are. On many modern engines that hardware includes runner-control flaps and a motorised actuator - and it is usually those, not the casting, that fail. Material matters too. Manifolds were historically aluminium or cast iron, with composite plastic now common on families such as Ford Zetec and Duratec and GM Ecotec, and plastic fatigues under heat cycling in a way aluminium does not. Send the VIN, engine code and a list of what you need attached.
Because every intake manifold quote is matched to your Honda Accord by VIN, you get a part that fits the first time and keeps your repair on budget.

Before you order, it helps to read:
Common Signs Your Intake Manifold May Need Replacing
- A rough or hunting idle from a vacuum leak at a crack or failed gasket
- An intake manifold runner control fault code
- Flat low-end torque when the runner flaps stick or the linkage comes apart
- Coolant loss or overheating where the manifold carries a coolant crossover
- A hard brake pedal, because the booster runs on manifold vacuum
Symptoms vary by vehicle and driving conditions. Always confirm diagnosis before replacement.
What to Check When Buying a Used Intake Manifold
- List what must arrive attached - throttle body flange, injector bosses, rail, sensors
- Confirm plastic or aluminium, and which design revision the donor is
- On runner-control manifolds, have the flaps and actuator moved, not eyeballed
- Check the linkage rods and clips - heat damages them and they sit low on the side
- Inspect every sealing flange and vacuum port for cracks, chips and distortion
- Confirm upper and lower halves - many manifolds are two pieces
- Budget new gaskets; leave fuel-rail and injector work to a professional
Ask for these details and any available photos before approving a purchase.

How Pricing Is Determined
Pricing for used intake manifold depends on several factors:
- Vehicle year, make, model, and engine configuration
- Mileage and overall condition of the donor vehicle
- Supplier location and shipping distance
- Warranty coverage offered
What is attached drives an intake manifold quote more than the casting does. A bare manifold, one complete with throttle body, fuel rail, injectors and sensors, and one with a working runner-control actuator are different products - and on a two-piece design you may need only the upper or the lower. Material and revision matter next, and a later factory revision is not always the same part number as the early one. Sealing-flange condition is the last lever: a chipped or distorted flange will never seal, and gaskets are separate. We do not publish prices: send the VIN and engine code for a written quote and terms.

Frequently Asked Questions
What actually comes attached to a used intake manifold?
It varies, which is why we ask. Beyond distributing air, the manifold mounts the throttle body, fuel injectors and other components, so a donor unit may come bare or with the fuel rail, injectors, sensors and runner-control actuator still on it. Tell us which you have and which you need; the quote will say exactly what is included.
Why do plastic intake manifolds crack, and does a later one fix it?
Heat cycling fatigues the plastic, typically around fittings and coolant passages. Ford 4.6 2V V8s are the best-known case: the composite manifold developed fatigue cracks at the coolant crossover, and in 2002 Ford redesigned it with a cast aluminium crossover at the front, which fixed most of it. Ford covered the issue with a January 2002 technical service bulletin rather than a general recall. So yes - on some engines the later revision is the one to ask for.
Do I need a whole manifold, or just the runner-control actuator?
It depends on what broke. The runner control is a motorised actuator with linkage running to levers on the butterfly plates, and a common failure is heat damaging the clips that hold those rods - the rods come adrift and codes set. They sit low on the manifold and are easy to miss. External linkage and actuator faults can often be dealt with alone; damage to the flaps inside pushes the job to a complete assembly. Have it diagnosed before ordering.
Is a manifold leak just a rough idle?
No, and that is worth knowing before you drive on it. Manifold vacuum feeds other systems - the brake booster draws on it, and the crankcase ventilation system uses it to pull blow-by out of the crankcase. So a cracked manifold or failed gasket can show up as a hard brake pedal, not only an unsteady idle. Have the leak found properly rather than replacing parts on a guess.
Milky oil and vanishing coolant - is my intake manifold cracked?
More often the gasket than the casting. Intake manifold gaskets seal coolant as well as air, and MAHLE documents 1988 to 2000 Chrysler and Mitsubishi 3.0L engines developing coolant leaks into the lifter valley at that gasket, caused by the block and head expanding and contracting - coolant into the oil, nothing on the driveway. You need the manifold only if the casting or flange is damaged.
My intake manifold gasket leaked once - will it just leak again?
It can, if the same design goes back on. Fel-Pro says GM trucks and vans from 1999 to 2015 with 4.8L, 5.3L or 6.2L engines used a plastic carrier-style intake manifold gasket as original equipment, and that heat and corrosive ethanol-blended fuel degrade and crack the carrier and its sealing beads; the replacement uses an aluminized steel carrier instead. Specify the gasket set, not just the manifold.
Is a used manifold off a direct-injection engine full of carbon?
The casting is rarely the problem - the valves are. Because a direct-injection engine's fuel never washes over the back of the intake valve, CRC says significant build-up can be there in as few as 5,000 miles, showing as uneven idle, poor acceleration and lowered fuel economy. Ask for photographs down the runners, but a clean used manifold will not clean valves that are already coked.
Does an intake manifold gasket need sealant on it as well?
Usually not, and adding it can cause the leak. Fel-Pro's guidance for its rubber-beaded gaskets is a clean, dry surface with no additional sealants: RTV can chemically attack the rubber sealing beads and degrade them, or let the gasket slip out of place and split, opening the very leak path you are trying to close. Old sealant on a used manifold's flange has to come off first.
