About Used Toyota Camry Parts
The Camry is one of America's best-selling sedans, so used engines, transmissions and body panels are easy to source — but Camry fitment turns on the engine code and generation, not the '2.5L' badge. Read the engine code off the block and match your VIN before buying; the four-cylinder changed families mid-run and the 2.4L and 2.5L are not straight swaps.
Generations & fitment boundaries
The generation and platform decide whether a used part interchanges. Match yours before you request a quote.
- 2007–2011 (XV40 (sixth gen)) — Base 2.4L 2AZ-FE four (158 hp) with the 3.5L 2GR-FE V6 (268 hp) on top; the 2.5L 2AR-FE four arrived for 2010. The 2009/2010 four-cylinder change is the boundary that breaks interchange.
- 2012–2017 (XV50 (seventh gen)) — 2.5L 2AR-FE four as base with the 3.5L 2GR-FE V6 still available; both carried over from the late XV40. Parts across 2012–2017 are the widest-supply, easiest-to-match Camry pool.
- 2018–2024 (XV70 (eighth gen, TNGA)) — All-new 2.5L A25A-FKS Dynamic Force four and 3.5L 2GR-FKS V6 (301 hp); a clean break from the earlier engines — nothing from XV40/XV50 crosses the 2018 line.
Engines & transmissions — how to tell them apart
Toyota ran the 2.4L 2AZ-FE four through the 2009 model year and switched the four-cylinder to the redesigned 2.5L 2AR-FE for 2010, which then carried through the XV50 (2012–2017). The 2AR-FE has a different bore and stroke and different electronics than the 2AZ-FE and is not interchangeable — crossing that split needs ECU reprogramming and often harness work. Order by engine code, not by '2.4 vs 2.5.'
The V6 through 2017 is the 3.5L 2GR-FE, a shared engine that also lives in the Highlander and RAV4, which widens your donor pool. From 2018 (XV70) the V6 became the 2GR-FKS and the four became the A25A-FKS — an all-new TNGA-era family that does not swap into the older cars. To tell four from six quickly: the V6 fills the bay wider with the intake plenum across the front; the fours sit narrower with the code stamped on the block.
Known issues that drive used-part demand
- 2.4L 2AZ-FE Camrys (roughly 2007–2009) are known for high oil consumption; the later 2.5L 2AR-FE is the improved replacement. If you're sourcing a used 2AZ-FE, check its oil-consumption/repair history or step up to a 2010+ 2AR-FE car.
- 3.5L 2GR-FE V6s built up to about April 2008 use a rubber VVT-i oil supply hose that can degrade and leak, risking low oil pressure — covered by Toyota's Limited Service Campaign for certain 2007–2010 Camry (and other) models. Confirm the metal-line update or have a mechanic inspect it before buying a used 2GR-FE.
Safety- and emissions-related parts should be diagnosed and installed by a licensed mechanic.
Most-requested used Camry parts
The most-asked Camry question — 'will a 2012 engine fit a 2017?' — is a yes within the XV50 four-cylinder (both are 2AR-FE) as long as accessories and mounts match, but a hard no across the 2018 line and across the 2.4/2.5 four-cylinder split. A used engine ECU that carries the immobilizer isn't plug-and-play either — it has to be reprogrammed to your keys or the anti-theft system blocks starting. Send your VIN and the engine code and we'll match a tested unit.

Used Toyota Camry Parts — FAQ
Will a 2.4L (2AZ-FE) and 2.5L (2AR-FE) Camry engine interchange?
No — they're different engines, not a facelift of one. Toyota ran the 2.4L 2AZ-FE through 2009 and switched the four to the 2.5L 2AR-FE for 2010; the two have different bore/stroke and electronics, so crossing the split needs ECU reprogramming and often harness work. Match by engine code.
Will a 2012 Camry engine fit a 2017?
Yes for the four-cylinder — both 2012 and 2017 (XV50) use the 2.5L 2AR-FE, so a tested unit with matching accessories fits. It will not fit a 2018+ (XV70) car, which uses the all-new A25A-FKS four. Confirm by VIN.
How do I tell if my Camry has the four or the V6?
Read the code off the block: 2AZ-FE/2AR-FE/A25A are fours, 2GR-FE/2GR-FKS are the 3.5L V6. The V6 fills the bay wider with the intake across the front; the 8th VIN digit also encodes the engine. Send your VIN so the engine and transmission both match.
Will a 2014 Camry front fender or bumper fit a 2015?
No. Toyota rebuilt the Camry's exterior for 2015 with more than 2,000 new parts, and the roof is the only exterior piece that carried over, so fenders, doors, bumper covers, lamps and grille all change at that line. The engines and transmissions did carry over, so a mechanical donor can cross the same year gap that body panels cannot.
Does a Camry Hybrid use the same engine and transmission as a gas Camry?
No. The transaxle is the tell: EPA lists the Camry Hybrid with a variable-ratio automatic in 2008, 2010 and 2012, while the gas Camry those years uses a conventional 5-speed or 6-speed. Displacement is not reliable - the 2010 hybrid is a 2.4L four against a 2.5L gas four, but for 2012 both read 2.5L. The hybrid engine, transaxle and high-voltage parts are hybrid-only, so confirm gas or hybrid by VIN.
Will a 2008 Camry automatic transmission fit a 2010 Camry?
No. EPA lists the 2008 four-cylinder Camry with a 5-speed automatic and the 2010 2.5L four with a 6-speed, so the four-cylinder automatic changed inside the same generation. The V6 was already on a 6-speed in 2008. Match the unit to your exact year and engine, and send the VIN and the transmission tag with your quote request.
Are Camry Solara parts the same as Camry sedan parts?
Treat the Solara as a separate vehicle. On EPA's 2008 Camry page the Solara coupe is listed with a 2.4L four or a 3.3L V6 and the Solara Convertible only with the 3.3L V6, all on 5-speed automatics, while the 2008 Camry sedan is listed with a 2.4L four on a 5-speed or a 3.5L V6 on a 6-speed. The two-door body is its own structure, so use a Solara donor only where the part number matches your VIN.
