About This Front / Rear Bumper
Most people asking for a used bumper want the cover - the painted plastic skin. Behind it sit two more parts, quoted separately: the energy absorber, a block designed to crush in a minor hit, and the reinforcement bar, of very strong steel or aluminum, which spreads the crash load. Neither hidden part is repaired: absorbers are one-time-use, and several manufacturers state a damaged reinforcement is replaced, not straightened. Say which of the three you need and the quote gets accurate. The other half of a modern bumper is electronics: park-assist sensors in the cover, forward radar in or behind the front bumper and grille, blind-spot radars usually behind the rear cover, surround-view cameras often in the front bumper. Removing the bumper can trigger a calibration - book that with a shop. And it arrives in the donor car's color.
Because every front / rear bumper quote is matched to your Lexus by VIN, you get a part that fits the first time and keeps your repair on budget.

Before you order, it helps to read:
Common Signs Your Front / Rear Bumper May Need Replacing
- A cracked, torn or deeply scuffed cover after a low-speed hit
- Snapped mounting tabs, so the cover stands proud of the fender
- Park-assist sensors chirping constantly, or silent since the hit
- A collision-warning, cruise or blind-spot fault after the damage
- A cover sagging where the absorber behind it has crushed
- A previously repaired cover that no longer matches the panels beside it
Symptoms vary by vehicle and driving conditions. Always confirm diagnosis before replacement.
What to Check When Buying a Used Front / Rear Bumper
- Say which part you need: cover, energy absorber or reinforcement bar
- Confirm front or rear and the exact trim - fog, tow-hook and sensor openings differ
- Count your sensor openings and note any camera aperture first
- Ask whether brackets, absorber and grille pieces are included
- Plan a calibration with your installer if radar or cameras sit behind it
- Do not plan to straighten a damaged absorber or reinforcement bar
Ask for these details and any available photos before approving a purchase.

How Pricing Is Determined
Pricing for used front / rear bumper depends on several factors:
- Vehicle year, make, model, and engine configuration
- Mileage and overall condition of the donor vehicle
- Supplier location and shipping distance
- Warranty coverage offered
The first thing that moves a bumper quote is which part you mean. A painted cover, a crushable absorber and a reinforcement bar are three separate items, and the bar is structural. After that it is trim: fog-light, tow-hook and parking-sensor openings vary between trims of one model, so the cover must match your build, not your badge. Sensor and camera content adds calibration at the shop end. Covers are bulky but light, so packaging matters more than weight, and a used cover arrives in the donor vehicle's color. We do not publish prices - ask for a written quote.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the cover, the absorber and the reinforcement bar?
The cover is the painted skin you see. Behind it the energy absorber is a crushable block that soaks up a minor impact and is one-time-use. Behind that the reinforcement bar is a structural beam of very strong steel or aluminum, and Honda, Nissan and Toyota all state a damaged reinforcement is replaced, not straightened. Ask your shop which layers took the hit.
Does fitting a used bumper mean my driver-assist systems need recalibrating?
Often, yes - and it is shop work. Forward radar sits in or behind the front bumper and grille; calibration is normally required after the radar is replaced, and may also be required simply after the bumper or grille is removed. Blind-spot radars usually sit behind the rear cover, and removing it can trigger their calibration. Surround-view systems can need it too. Ask your installer to check the procedure for your VIN.
Will a used bumper have the right sensor and fog-light openings?
Only if it comes off a matching build. Parking-sensor, fog-light and tow-hook openings are trim-specific, and body panels interchange over a narrow year band set by body-style generation and trim, not the model name. Count the sensor holes on your bumper, note any camera aperture, and send the VIN.
Can the parking sensors just be painted to match?
Carefully, and not always. Some manufacturers do not allow a sensor with minor finish damage to be refinished at all, because excess paint thickness can affect how it works; others permit it but publish thickness limits. Most also bar repairs to cover areas in front of blind-spot sensors. Treat sensor zones as work for a painter following the manufacturer specification.
What do the letters stamped on the back of my bumper cover mean?
They identify the plastic, and that decides how the cover is prepared. Look on the inside face for a two or three letter ID such as TPO, TEO, PP, ABS or PUR. Thermoplastics like TPO and polypropylene normally need an adhesion promoter before paint or filler; thermosets do not. Give your painter the code, because wrong prep is what makes fresh paint let go later.
Are the crush boxes behind the bumper bar separate from the bar itself?
Usually, though some reinforcement bars are supplied with the crush boxes attached. They are sacrificial by design: I-CAR's guidance is that damaged crush boxes are replaced and must not be straightened, the same rule that covers the reinforcement bar and the one-time-use absorber. Have the shop look behind the cover, then tell us which of those pieces to quote.
My truck has a chrome bumper, not a plastic cover - which part is that?
It is the bumper itself, not a cover. On most cars the structural bumper is a hidden bar behind a painted plastic cover, but a few applications - heavy-duty pickups among them - still carry a visible bumper you can see and touch. So describe it: chrome, black or painted, and which openings and brackets it carries. Front bumper on its own does not separate the two.
How can I tell whether a used bumper cover has already been repaired?
Look at the inside face, not the paint. Plastic repairs are made from the back: the crack is welded and the area is often reinforced with stainless steel mesh set into the plastic, so weld beads, a mesh patch or ground-back areas on the underside all point to earlier work. A repair can hold, but one made without identifying the plastic and using the right adhesion promoter tends to let go again.
How is compatibility verified?
Provide your VIN or full vehicle details so you can review the fitment basis in your quote before approving a purchase.
What if the part does not fit?
Most suppliers offer limited return or exchange options. Warranty and return terms are confirmed before purchase.
How long does shipping take?
Shipping time varies by location, part size, and freight arrangement. Confirm the dispatch and delivery estimate in your quote.
