About This Parking Sensor Module
The parking sensor module is the computer, not the eyes, and that is where money gets wasted on this repair. Most park assist systems have their own module: it works out distance from what the ultrasonic sensors report, triggers the chime or asks another module to draw the display, and normally powers the sensors and reads their signal back. The sensors are separate parts, in the front and rear bumper covers and, on some active park assist cars, low in the fender. They fail differently too: one dead corner is usually a sensor, while everything dead or a module that will not communicate points at the controller. Colour matters too: factory sensors are colour-keyed, so a used one arrives in the donor car's paint - and repainting is not always allowed.

Before you order, it helps to read:
Common Signs Your Parking Sensor Module May Need Replacing
- Park assist dead front and rear - no chime, no display
- Constant beeping with clear space behind you
- A park-assist-unavailable message, or a module that will not answer
- One corner reading nothing while the rest behave - sensor territory
- Sensors that went quiet after the bumper was repainted
- Distances that read wrong, or a chime that never quickens as you close in
Symptoms vary by vehicle and driving conditions. Always confirm diagnosis before replacement.
What to Check When Buying a Used Parking Sensor Module
- Prove which failed first, module or sensor - different parts, different fix
- Match the system, not the model - active park assist uses more sensors and extra locations
- Match sensors to your paint code - factory replacements are supplied already painted
- Do not respray a used sensor without checking your maker's rules - several forbid it
- Plan the post-fit system test - most makers check detection rather than calibrate, some run a learn
- Buy new retainers where they are one-time-use, as Toyota/Lexus taped ones are
Ask for these details and any available photos before approving a purchase.

How Pricing Is Determined
Pricing for used parking sensor module depends on several factors:
- Vehicle year, make, model, and engine configuration
- Mileage and overall condition of the donor vehicle
- Supplier location and shipping distance
- Warranty coverage offered
We quote rather than list prices. The quote hinges on what you are actually replacing: a park assist control module is one part, a single ultrasonic sensor another, a set of colour-matched sensors another again. Active park assist carries more sensors than plain park assist, so tell us which you have. Budget two things beyond the part: the post-install system test, and new retainers where the maker calls them one-time-use. Send the VIN and paint code, and say whether one zone is out or the lot.
Confirm the final price and fitment basis before approving a purchase.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it the module or one of the sensors that has failed?
The symptom pattern usually tells you. A single blind spot in an otherwise working system points at one sensor or its wiring. Total silence front and rear, false alarms across the board, or a module that will not answer a scan tool points at the controller - the unit that powers the sensors and reads them back. Have it scanned before buying either, so you are not replacing a part that was never the problem.
Can I paint a used parking sensor to match my car?
Only if your manufacturer allows it, and some do not. Genesis says refinishing and touch-up must not be done on ultrasonic sensors at all, and that replacements are ordered pre-painted by colour code. Mercedes-Benz allows painting of certain PARKTRONIC sensors but sets a window of 70 to 120 microns, warning that deviating thickness detunes the diaphragm and causes anything from accuracy problems to system failure. Check before anyone opens a spray gun.
Does a parking sensor module need calibration?
Usually not in the targets-and-tripod sense. Most makers do not call for a calibration on park assist but do require a system test after installation: objects are placed in set positions and a scan tool confirms they are detected properly. Some have a learn procedure started with a scan tool. Aiming can also be required after a bumper cover has been off, a sensor removed, or an impact near a sensor.
My parking sensors stopped working after the bumper was resprayed. Why?
Paint thickness and overspray are the usual answer. Ultrasonic sensors read sound reflections through their own face, so an extra layer of paint changes how the diaphragm behaves. Some makers refuse refinishing entirely and require a contaminated or oversprayed sensor to be replaced; others publish a thickness range that must be measured after painting. That is a sensor problem, and a new module will not fix it.
Rear cross traffic alert is dead but the parking beeps still work - is that the parking sensor module?
Almost certainly not. I-CAR describes blind spot and cross traffic systems as running primarily on radar sensors behind the bumper covers, while park assist runs on ultrasonic sensors and its own controller. Even where Toyota and Lexus fold intuitive park assist and blind spot monitor into one Intelligent Clearance Sonar suite, I-CAR says the two are calibrated separately. Get the codes read before buying either.
My parking sensors beep non-stop since a tow hitch went on - is the module faulty?
Probably not - they are seeing the hitch. Ram's ParkSense owner text strongly recommends disconnecting the ball mount and hitch ball assembly when the vehicle is not being used for towing, and says to switch the system off if bicycle carriers, trailer hitches and the like sit within 18 inches of the rear fascia. Take the ball mount off and retest first.
Do the parking sensors on my car apply the brakes, or do they only beep?
On some vehicles they do far more than beep. Toyota's owner text for Parking Support Brake says ultrasonic sensors detect static objects, that output is first restricted to hold the speed down and then the brakes are applied automatically, and that the system is not designed to stop the vehicle completely. On such a car the post-installation check is part of a braking function.
How is compatibility verified?
Provide your VIN or full vehicle details so you can review the fitment basis in your quote before approving a purchase.
What if the part does not fit?
Most suppliers offer limited return or exchange options. Warranty and return terms are confirmed before purchase.
How long does shipping take?
