About This Radar Sensor
A forward radar sensor sits in or behind the front bumper or grille, measures the distance to what is ahead, and feeds adaptive cruise control, collision warning and collision braking. Calibration is normally required after a forward radar is replaced - and can also be required after the front bumper or grille has simply been removed, after front structural repairs, or after the radar is taken off and refitted. That is aiming, not plugging in: some cars are calibrated statically against targets in the shop, some dynamically on a road drive, some both, and rain or snow can stall a dynamic run. Feature level also varies inside one model line - Toyota fits Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control on some cars and plain DRCC on others, including manual-transmission models - so what your car left with is a VIN question, not a model one.
Because every radar sensor quote is matched to your Honda Accord by VIN, you get a part that fits the first time and keeps your repair on budget.

Before you order, it helps to read:
Common Signs Your Radar Sensor May Need Replacing
- Adaptive cruise refusing to set, or dropping out and handing the car back
- A radar-blocked or assist-unavailable message that never clears
- Collision warning firing at nothing - a bridge, a sign, a parked car
- Following distance that reads long or short, or braking that arrives late
- Assist lights on after front-end damage or a bumper repaint
- A radar fault found on a post-repair scan after bumper work
Symptoms vary by vehicle and driving conditions. Always confirm diagnosis before replacement.
What to Check When Buying a Used Radar Sensor
- Confirm you need the forward radar, not a corner blind-spot radar - different unit, different job
- Match by VIN and feature level - one nameplate is sold with different adaptive-cruise systems
- Line up the calibration before you buy - the sensor alone will not switch the feature back on
- Check the bracket, aim adjusters and connector are present and the mounting face is straight
- Refuse a sensor with paint overspray, filler or contamination on its face
- Have your shop look your year, make and model up in I-CAR's OEM Calibration Requirements Search
Ask for these details and any available photos before approving a purchase.

How Pricing Is Determined
Pricing for used radar sensor depends on several factors:
- Vehicle year, make, model, and engine configuration
- Mileage and overall condition of the donor vehicle
- Supplier location and shipping distance
- Warranty coverage offered
We quote rather than list prices, and on a radar sensor the part is only half the bill. What moves it is the feature level it came from and whether the bracket and hardware are attached. Plan for the calibration separately: it needs a shop with the OEM procedure, a scan tool, targets, a level floor and clear space, or a road route. Cost that labour before you commit: a used radar that never gets aimed leaves adaptive cruise and collision braking switched off. Send the VIN, and say if the bumper is being replaced too.
Confirm the final price and fitment basis before approving a purchase.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a used radar sensor need calibration?
Yes. Calibration is normally required after a forward radar is replaced, and it is not optional - a radar that is not aimed to specification judges closing speed off a false reference. Depending on the vehicle it is static (targets at measured positions in a large space clear of metal, run through a scan tool), dynamic (driven under specified conditions), or both. That is qualified-shop work; there is no home version.
My bumper came off for a repair and now cruise control is dead. Do I need a new radar?
Not necessarily. Removing the front bumper or grille, and front structural repairs, can themselves require recalibration even with the original sensor still fitted and undamaged. Have it scanned and calibrated before you buy anything. If the sensor was struck or caught overspray, that is different - a damaged or contaminated unit is replaced, then calibrated.
Can a radar from the same model year be dropped straight in?
Treat that as unlikely until the VIN says otherwise. Makers sell more than one driver-assist level in the same model line - Toyota sells Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control on some cars and the plain version on others - so year alone does not settle it. Send the VIN and a photo of the connector.
Does a repainted or plastic-repaired bumper affect the radar?
It can. In a position statement I-CAR published, Hyundai tells shops to mask off or remove corner radar units before refinishing, says a unit that is damaged, contaminated or caught overspray must be replaced and recalibrated, and advises against plastic repairs to front and rear bumpers because the altered shape or surface may affect radar performance. Other makers set their own limits.
Does any manufacturer tell you not to fit a salvaged radar sensor at all?
Yes. I-CAR reports position statements in which Nissan and INFINITI say the use of salvaged, aftermarket or any secondary-market radars, cameras, sensors or related ADAS components is strictly prohibited, their reasoning being that parts outside new genuine originals may have seen a prior collision, improper storage or non-approved manufacturing. Check your make's position first.
A radar blocked message keeps appearing in bad weather - is the sensor failing?
Not on that evidence. I-CAR's guidance on adaptive cruise is that rain, snow and ice can blind the camera and block the radar, and that a dirty bumper cover, dust, mud or dead bugs will do the same. Metallic or reflective stickers and tape can block radar altogether. A message that lifts once the car is clean and the weather clears is not a failed sensor.
My car has adaptive cruise - does that mean it definitely has a forward radar sensor?
Not necessarily. Subaru's EyeSight works from a stereo pair of cameras on the upper edge of the windscreen rather than a bumper-mounted radar, while Toyota's own overview describes Safety Sense 2.5 as using a high-resolution camera and millimetre-wave radar together. The same feature can be camera-only or camera plus radar, so settle which sensors your VIN carries.
